The Deal.

Hey folks. Here's The Deal. It is 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday night, and in exactly 12 hours, Aaron and I will walk through the sliding doors of the emergency room at Baptist Memorial Hospital to kick start the process that will ultimately end up with us getting to hold Clark Rice. That is unless of course he decides to make the move tonight, which is still a legitimate option at this point. But we are placing our bets on Clark's birthday being January 6, 2010, which incidentally is my sweet mother in law's birthday as well. I love the fact that Clark will share a birthday with his grandmother.

Induction was never part of our "birth plan." We assumed that Clark would enter this world on his own time and everything would be jolly. Obviously, we could continue to wait for him to come on his own, and I might be 50 weeks pregnant by then, but there are several factors that led us bite the bullet and we are so indescribably excited that the waiting is almost over. I've talked to a good number of women over the past couple of days who have shared their induction story with me and I've heard nothing but great experiences, which is nice because quite honestly, we are kind of nervous about the whole idea. We understand the increased risk of having to have a c-section but we're hoping and praying, and praying, and praying, and hoping, and praying, and hoping and praying that it doesn't come to that. If you could also hope and pray and hope and pray all day tomorrow that would be great.

As for tonight, I'm probably going to clean our already clean house but try to take it easy. Our bags are packed, car seat is in the car, and we are ready for delivery day. It would be great if Aaron and I could get a little bit of sleep since tomorrow will be nothing short of utterly exhausting, but I'm just not sure sleep will be possible. Maybe, just maybe, I can convince Aaron to play one game of Scattergories with me. He has turned me down for the past couple of weeks so I'm not going to count on it, but anything to calm my nerves would be great. I'm definitely going to give Jake some TLC because after tomorrow, he will probably be attention deprived for at least the next 10 years of his life.

So there you have it. My last official post before Aaron and Kelly become dad and mom. Clark Randall Rice is on his way and nothing will ever be the same again. I'm pretty sure we have no idea what we are getting ourselves into, but who does for baby #1? We're beyond ready to the miniscule extent that we know how to be. Please keep the entire Rice family in your prayers. Pray that I won't have any pain whatsoever and I'll be in labor for no longer than one hour. Pray that Aaron doesn't pass out at the sight of....well, you know. Pray that Clark will be a healthy and happy little Rice boy and that he has Aaron's cheeks. We're so excited! Woo hoo!!!!

Karen Leno here, hoping and praying for you Kelly, Aaron and Clark. My daughter and your old friend / classmate/ churchmate / RYM mate, Kelsey Leno O'Connell, was expected on December 28, 1985, scheduled for inducement on Tuesday, January 14, 1986, but arrived on Monday, January 13, 1986, just hours before our plans, on her own time. However it goes for you, may it go well. God bless you all.
