Calling All Warriors

Prayer warriors, that is!

Over the July 4th weekend, the husband of a great high school friend of mine was diagnosed with Epithelioid Sarcoma, a rare soft tissue tumor that is often misdiagnosed and usually occurs in the extremities of young adults. Chris is on active duty in the Air Force and is an otherwise healthy and active guy, and to hear this news absolutely breaks my heart. Chris and Caroline Trobough have a gorgeous, precious 18 month old sweet little girl and Caroline is eight months pregnant with another little girl due to arrive in October.

Cancer is so dadgum scary and I hate it. Its a curse word that makes me cringe every time I hear the "C word." It hit uncomfortably close to home in my family when my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in May of 2007. There is nothing good about getting that phone call, and it gives me a little insight as to what Caroline and Chris went through in July.

The good news about all of this is that Chris and Caroline are very strong and faithful believers in Christ and on his Caring Bridge site, she talks about how Chris is being drastically changed through his walk with God in all of this chaos. There is no question in my mind that their committed faith in the Lord is very reason why they are so positive and optimistic.

Chris just started chemotherapy on Monday and will continue to do so everyday this week. I am following his Caring Bridge site to keep updated on the course of action they are taking, and you should too. Caroline is an amazing wife, one that any of us can only hope to be in such a situation. Seriously, imagine with me if you will, being eight months pregnant with a very active 18 month old and going through the emotional and physical toll of watching your husband battle cancer. It hurts to think about.

Please join me in praying for the Trobough family. I know sometimes it is hard to stay in constant prayer for a family you don't know, or have never seen, so here is a picture to help you visualize who you are praying for:

Please pray for strength and comfort for this young family. Pray for wisdom and peace in the decisions their doctors will make over the next several months. Pray that the Lord would heal Chris' body in His perfect timing. Pray for the little baby Caroline is carrying and for sweet Whitley Claire. Pray that this family would grow stronger through it all. Pray for God to provide the resources they will need. And most of all, praise Him for being a mighty God who promises to never leave us or forsake us.

You're amazing. Thanks so much :) I can't wait to forward this to Chris so he can read it while he's in the hospital!
