Anybody want to watch the sunrise with me?

I'm sitting here at 2:22 a.m. wondering why the heck I am awake. I think it has something to do with the fact that we chose to eat at The Beacon tonight, which is the absolute greasiest little food joint in all the south. Although our entire meal was $13.00, it wasn't worth the three pounds I gained, the heartburn, and just all together nasty feeling I left with. Aaron is also awake at this hour and so is Jake. I think Aaron is awake because he is so excited I am home after being gone for 24 hours. That's a joke. I don't think he even noticed I was gone because he was being a champion law school student and writing a memo and doing assignments and research and blah blah blah. He seemed excited to see me when I got home, but also confused because he wasn't sure I had even left in the first place. That is also a joke. I always look forward to coming home from road trips because my welcoming committee is award winning. Aaron and Jake sure do know how to make a girl feel loved.

My time with Nikki was of course awesome, as is every second we ever spend together. We laugh a lot and she is a good sport when I make fun of her. I arrived at her house on Friday with intentions of having her entire house packed up by noon on Saturday. Too bad we didn't lift a finger on Friday. But that was alright because we procrastinated a good bit and then went out to eat and watched my secret crush, Daniel Craig, in some awesome 007 action. Saturday morning was productive and thanks to me, Nikki and Nate will be eating off paper plates and plastic cups for the next three weeks because I packed up all their dishes. I know I've mentioned Nikki about 300 times in this blog, but it is because I have literally never known life without her. Interesting fact: If it weren't for me, Nikki would have never met her husband, Nate. If it weren't for Nikki, I would have never met my husband, Aaron. So we owe each other a lot. But now she owes me big time for driving six hours out of my way to help her box up about two million curtains. That is not a joke. The woman has about 50 different curtains throughout her house, and that does not include the ones on her windows. Crazy curtain lady.

I also got to hang out with my dad, my brother Drew, and Yaya, my grandmother. Yaya tried to shove strawberry shortcake down my mouth, but in honor of my no-sugar fast, I had to respectfully decline. Sunday marks the one week anniversary of zero chocolate, zero soft drinks, zero Nilla wafers, and zero anything sugary sweet. I can't believe it requires such a strong will power to say no to dessert. How easy it would have been to have one bite of that delicious strawberry shortcake goodness. I wonder if it is comparable in anyway to quitting smoking. I am so glad I never had to do that.

Today the weather dropped a good 40 degrees out of nowhere. Currently, in Oxford, it is 35 degrees and according to weather.com, it feels like 3o. It was also 35 degrees at 10:30 p.m. when Aaron and I decided to take Jake for a walk around the block. We bundled up in tons of layers and made coffee and hot peppermint tea and battled the bitter wind and cold so Jake could get some fresh air. Oh to be young and stupid. We actually enjoyed it a lot. Or at least I did. I've mentioned it before, but those uninterrupted, 30 minute walks are very sacred these days, considering Aaron is now wedded to everything concerning Contracts, Property, Torts, Civil Procedure, Legal Research and Legal Writing.

Aaron's grandmother, Mimi, turned 75 recently and had a great big birthday bash in Hattiesburg this weekend. Aaron and I could not go because the weekends are the only times he can catch up and actually try to work ahead, especially lately with the burden of finals on his shoulders. But I have no doubt that Mimi celebrated big time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and we look forward to seeing everybody over Christmas!

A wave of sleepiness just overcame me, and that is great news. I'm still going to take some Tylenol Simply Sleep, which works like a charm every time. I think the only thing that would truly fix my sleep problem tonight is to make myself a big fat bowl of ice cream with chocolate syrup and cool whip. I might have to break my fast tonight in the name of sleep. I'll let you know if the temptation overwhelms me. Good night, friends. I hope everybody is enjoying their sleep.
